History
Acquired in 2001 from Pam Boehm Maciotek, the land was intended to be the site for a community center which never materialized due to citizen feedback.
Features
This 37-acre community park is located in the central part of the city. Existing facilities include:
Future improvements may include a shelter with restrooms and a sand volleyball court.
Conservation Areas
Significant portions of this park have been planted with prairie vegetation. A stream bisects the northern and southern portions of the park. Most of the southern portion is in the 100-year floodplain, contains wetlands and a stormwater retention pond. This area was seeded with a very diverse mix of native wet prairie species in 2010 in a restoration project that included the city-owned Candlewood Outlots to the south. These lands are part of a 58-acre complex of conservation land protecting this stream corridor that also includes Quietwood Creek Wetlands and private conservancy areas of Quietwood Creek Subdivision.
Parking
Off-street parking is available.
