Fees for all permits within the city are set by the Common Council. Below is a summary of some typical permit fees for common projects. These fees can vary depending on the exact details and size of a project. This listing is just to give a basic example of typical fees and is subject to change. New Home Construction

Shed (Less than 120 Square Feet)

  • Planning review - $15
  • Engineering review - Starting at $20 (can vary based upon the time of review and can exceed listed amounts)
  • Building Permit fee - $60
  • Typical total - $95

Accessory Structure / Garage (More than 120 Square Feet)

  • Planning review - $90
  • Engineering review - Starting at $20 (can vary based upon the time of review and can exceed listed amounts)
  • Building review - $60
  • Building Permit fee - $0.28 per square foot
  • Typical total - Varies

Deck

  • Planning review - $20
  • Engineering review - Starting at $20 (can vary based upon the time of review and can exceed listed amounts)
  • Building review - $35

Pool / Spa

  • Planning review - $20

Remodeling / Renovations (No Building Footprint Change)

Addition / Expansion

  • Planning review - $90

Re-Roofing, Re-Siding, Foundation Repair, Projects Where a Square Footage Cannot be Determined

  • Building Permit fee - $10 per $1,000 of value (minimum of $60)

Driveways, Patios, Walkways, Retaining / Seat Walls, Fences – Require a Zoning Permit

  • Planning review - $20

Electrical, Plumbing & Mechanical (HVAC) Permits

  • The fees for these types of permits are a $60 base fee plus $.06 a SF of the area being developed for nay new construction or remodel.
